From 2007, all Queensland children of eligible age were able to attend a full-time preparatory year of education before starting year one. The prep year is not compulsory and is available at schools offering primary education. Prep is the first year in the early phase of learning, which spans prep to year 3.

Children need to be five by the 30th June in the year they enrol in prep. To determine if your child is eligible to enrol in prep please use Education Queensland's prep ready reckoner.

There is no waiting list to enrol at Salisbury State School for preparatory year.

Parent information sessions will be held in June and October for enrolment in the following year. Prep enrolment forms will be available at the sessions, and tours will also be conducted after the morning session.

You are very welcome to bring your child to our school in Education Week for 'Under Eights’ morning. Activities include music making, art activities, balloon animals, and an obstacle course. This is a wonderful opportunity for you and your child to get a feel for our great school.

After enrolling your child, you will be contacted with an appointment time for you and your child to attend an interview. Prep teachers will meet with parents in the week before the commencement of the school year. Parents will complete an information sheet which supplements the enrolment form to ensure the best transition possible. At the interview you are able to talk about your child’s particular interests, needs etc.
