To enrich our student learning and development in line with the expanding Australian curriculum, Salisbury State School has engaged in a Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) program for years 2 - 6. The BYOD program is an initiative that allows students to bring their own personal technology device to school and use it for educational purposes under the guidance and supervision of their teacher.
To support this program within our family community, our school has implemented the Bring Your Own Device technical service called BYOxLink. This service utilizes Education Queensland's provided mobile device management (MDM) tool, Microsoft Intune, which allows our school to distribute a wireless network profile and curriculum related applications to our student BYO devices via the Company Portal app.
The Company Portal app allows families to easily prepare their child's device for school from home in advance, installing software and applications for class use and pre-configuring access to our school Wi-Fi for secure browsing all in the one app.
School staff can only access school information through Intune and cannot:
- See personal information.
- Monitor what happens on the device.
- Track or locate the device.
- See information on installed personal applications (other than school applications).
- Uninstall applications, including personal ones.
