The school has a well-stocked and attractive library of book and non-book resources. All children are encouraged to borrow regularly from the library and complete a period of daily reading. The resource centre has computers available for browsing the library catalogue also Years P-6 may borrow a set number of fiction and non-fiction books according to year level. They may borrow for a maximum of 2 weeks. All children participate in library lessons weekly, conducted by our teacher librarian.
The ability to read fluently is an important factor in success in most studies. As well, recreational reading can bring much joy to many children once the habit is established.
Encourage your child to use the school library, to have a book out at any given time and to treat books with respect. Try to find time to listen to your child read or talk about the book he/she is reading.
Your co-operation in seeing that books are returned in good time would be greatly appreciated. Children are encouraged to use a draw-string or plastic carry bag for the library books, otherwise books are unable to be borrowed. Library books that are lost or damaged are expected to be replaced or reimbursed.
