The Australian Curriculum
The Australian Curriculum provides learning across five subjects within the learning area of The Arts. Our Arts Specialist Teacher provides a cyclical program across the Primary years, ensuring students are able access diverse learning experiences by the end of Year 6.
All students, Prep to Year 6 will be taught Music for one semester and in the other semester will engage in units of work with the Arts specialist teacher for two other Arts subjects. In an even year, (such as 2024) we provide units which integrate Visual Arts and Drama. Alternate years (odd numbered) units integrate Media and Dance.
Students in Prep 'experience' The Arts. They are taught units of work and engage in the same arts subjects as other students but are not formally assessed for reporting purposes. Students in Years 1-6 are assessed each unit and will recieve a grade for reporting under the learning area The Arts.
In addition to our class music program, Salisbury State School offers students an opportunity to participate in a number of extra-curricular musical activities including a Junior and Senior Choirs.
More information on these activities can be found in Music Activities.
