School chaplaincy is a service that provides spiritual, ethical, and personal support to the school community of students, parents and staff. Chaplains are present in schools at the invitation of the Principal, in consultation with the local community and with the support of the Parent and Citizens Association.
Chaplains in Queensland schools:
- build positive relationships with students
- work closely with other support staff and services to nurture and care for students
- support at-risk students through behaviour management programs
- support staff and families from the wider school community
- provide spiritual support and direction to the school community.
Our school chaplain is Chantal Nahimana.
As the school chaplain, I enjoy connecting with individuals, building positive relationships, providing pastoral care and support through class visits, one-on-ones, working with groups, chilling out with students in my Chappy Cottage and participating in special school events. I am at school Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays.
